Some of you may remember that I used to go to a boot camp as part of my weekly routine…Now, due to a problem in my back I Spin and do Pilates.
Yesterday I was tired; physically and mentally ( It was an amazingly brilliant busy week) and I’d done 2 spin classes back to back. As I sat on my bike ready to go for the third time I have to say that I wasn’t “feeling it”. Negativity was there and I chose to ignore it!
Half way through my knee wobbled and I felt pain!! ? I pushed through for a while then realised what I was doing and stopped! I took my gears off completely, indicated to the trainer that I was stopping and spent the remainder of the session coasting as if I was on a gentle downhill slope. No pressure, no expectation still pedalling but just resting.
This morning my knee feels fine but I am fairly sure that if I’d kept pushing I may have woken to a different outcome that would have meant that I wouldn’t have been able to do anything physical for a while; no dog walk, maybe no driving!
I think we can all be guilty of pushing through the warning signs ( expectation of ourselves and if others outweighing our rational thought) but if we are able to recognise the signs;
Tiredness
Negativity
Lack of focus ….
And just take our foot off the pedal for a while we can keep moving forward.
Ignore the signs and we find ourselves having to change our path.
