What I Do
I practice Solution Focused Hypnotherapy. My approach focuses on finding solutions, not dwelling on problems.
I combine hypnosis with a range of therapies including Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Cognitive Behaviourial Therapy (CBT) and Neurolinguistic Programming (NLP), CBTi and Coaching. A highly modern and effective technique, solution focused hypnotherapy utilises trance to achieve a state of ‘focused attention’ that makes your mind more responsive to beneficial suggestions. It can reduce the symptoms of anxiety, stress and depression, as well as help increase your motivation and confidence and focus, improve your sleep, help you manage your weight, deal with phobias and overcome the problems that are holding you back. Through the use of MRIs, we can now say, with authority, that solution focused hypnotherapy works, if you are willing to make a change.
What To Expect
We start with an initial appointment to discuss your needs and the challenges you are currently facing.
Because Solution Focused Hypnotherapy focuses on finding solutions, rather than dwelling on problems there is no in-depth analysis of your past or any issues. Instead, we will acknowledge where you are currently, talk about where you want to be and then together we will work to help you make the necessary changes.
Inside Your Brain
Part of your initial consultation also involves a simple explanation of how your brain works, why you think the way you do, why you get stressed or adopt unwanted behaviours and how your brain reacts. Once we have identified where you want to be, we get your mind to relax and go into a state of ‘focused attention’ where your subconscious is more open to beneficial suggestions and change. This is also called ‘trance’.
Deeply Relaxed State
Many people comment on how ordinary hypnosis feels. Often they may expect to go into an unconscious state, but actually hypnosis is more like daydreaming. In fact, most of us can relate to a time when we have been driving for some distance before realising that we have no awareness of having driven the last few miles and this is because we have entered a natural state of hypnotic trance. You may still be thinking about things or be able to hear everything that’s being said or going on around you, but you will be in a deeply relaxed state and open to suggestion. And despite what you may have read or seen, hypnosis relies on you being willing to make changes. A resistant mind won’t be able to go into trance, or if it does, will not be so open to those beneficial suggestions. So it is really important that you want to make changes in your life.
How It Works
Hypnotherapy is often misunderstood, but it’s a powerful tool that can change the way you think and change your life for better.
Hypnotherapy is a non-invasive combination of psychotherapy and hypnosis. The psychotherapy in itself can be extremely beneficial and its effects are enhanced further by the application of hypnosis, which enables the subconscious mind to make the beneficial changes required. Many people (myself included until I started studying) believe that hypnotherapy is something that is “done” to them, and worry that they will be “made” to behave strangely as they often see on television hypnotist entertainment shows. They are sometimes led to believe that once they have explained their issues the therapist can then simply hypnotises their problem away, as if by magic. I give you the wand and help you to wave it! I’ll help you to imagine your preferred future, a future where you have a more useful perspective on the quality of your life. We can work together to make small achievable changes that will start to change your direction. I’ll then guide you, through the use of relaxation and visualisation techniques, into a relaxed state of hypnosis so that we can consolidate what we have discussed.

What is Pyschotherapy?
There are many different kinds of psychotherapy, all of which aim to help people overcome stress or emotional problems. Psychotherapy involves talking together to help clients overcome their difficulties. Psychotherapy is often referred to as a ‘talking treatment’. Solution Focused Psychotherapy is future oriented. The type of psychotherapy I practice encompasses ‘Solution Focused Therapy techniques’ and is designed to reduce anxiety and calm the mind. As the name suggests it focuses on solutions for the future, rather than dwelling on and analysing problems of the past and it often involves laughter.

What It Costs
You might say the chance to change your life is priceless.
If you want to make a lasting change for the better and have a happier, calmer and more content life, an investment in solution focused hypnotherapy is one of the best choices you could make. It’s not always a quick fix. Usually you will need at least eight sessions to warrant positive lasting change for the better for general anxiety based issues and as many as 15 to get to where you want to be. Fear and Phobia normalisation requires 4 sessions. All sessions last 50 minutes. Payment is taken at the time of booking.
No treatment takes place during the initial consultation. It gives us the opportunity to meet each other in a relaxed environment to ascertain if hypnotherapy is a suitable treatment for you. It also gives me the opportunity to explain how hypnotherapy works in more detail. Whilst the results of Hypnotherapy can often appear magical it is not like waving a magic wand. Ultimately it is down to you to want to make the changes and be willing to engage in the therapeutic process. The treatment process is effectively a team effort and should be treated as such. For this reason I cannot guarantee results.
Terms and Conditions
If you have to cancel your hypnotherapy appointment, please give at least 24 hours notice. This ensures fairness to other clients who are waiting for an appointment. Room charges still have to be paid regardless of whether or not it is used. Missed appointments or appointments that are rescheduled with less than 24 hours notice will be charged at the full rate. Please ensure you are on time for your appointment. It is likely that there will be an appointment booked immediately after yours and as a result any lateness will reduce the time available for your session.
