Be a lady they said

Be a lady they said:
I think that the confusing expectations placed on us all, regardless of gender, create many unnecessary stresses and emotional issues that could be avoided if we could all be allowed to be ourselves.
But the brain craves inclusion, especially in our teen years; so how confusing it must be to try to work out what you want to be a part of?🤷🏼‍♀️ in this fast paced ever changing world.
Brains like familiarity, routine, “normal”, comfort, reward ….. so it’s not surprising that we are seeing brains in crisis.
Understanding our brains and their perception of our world is key to being able to offer the support and understanding that many of us currently need. Let’s face it, the last year has tested our brains. Change and unfamiliarity ( not forgetting a health pandemic, which arguably was a real “life or death” situation) are enough to activate our survival behaviours which in turn ( as they are often misunderstood) often become our problems!
